Frequently Asked Questions
COVID UPDATE - YOUR BIKES ARE CLEAN RIGHT?
We will thoroughly sanitize each bike before and after patrons dismount, with a focus on cleaning high-touch surfaces. We will have hand sanitizer onboard to use as needed!
WHO CAN RIDE?
Passengers must be a minimum of 18 years of age for all tours. Pedaling passengers ideally should be at least 5′ tall to comfortably reach the pedals. Shorter passengers are still welcome to ride but are encouraged to take a non-pedal seat or the back bench seat.
HOW MANY PEOPLE DOES THE BIKE HOLD?
YEG Old Strathcona/Happy Beer Street tours require a minimum of 8 guests (to a maximum of 15).
YEG Downtown tours require a minimum of 6 guests (to a maximum of 13).
All of our bikes have a bench at the bike that seats 2-3 guests that are non-pedaling. Please keep in mind we do require the minimum number of guests noted above to be pedaling. Any additional guests are able to use a non-pedaling seat.
CAN YOU DRINK ONBOARD?
YES! Yes, you can! But we have a few rules…
We have a variety of craft beer & hard seltzers which must be purchased in advance (at time of booking) for private tours. For our public tours (individual seat bookings) the drinks are available for purchase once you arrive for the tour.
You may NOT bring your own liquor to drink on the bike tour.
We will need to check photo ID’s so please remember to bring them along.
ARE DRINKS INCLUDED IN THE TOUR PRICE?
All food/drinks are not included in the tour price, and will be up to your group to purchase at each stop day of the tour.
Drink packages (variety of beer, hard seltzers and cider) for onboard the bike are available for purchase. Drink packages for private tours must be purchased in advance (at time of booking).
We do provide complimentary bottles of water onboard the bike.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
Full refund for cancellations more than 14 days prior, tours rescheduled for cancellations 8-14 days prior, no refunds or tour rescheduling for cancellations within 7 days of the tour. For multiple bike bookings or custom events/rentals our cancellation policy is 30 days in advance for full refund or rescheduling.
Tours run rain or shine; in the event of severe weather tours as determined by Urban Pedal Tours may be delayed or cancelled. If tour is cancelled by Urban Pedal Tours a full refund or rain check will be provided with as much notice as possible.
We reserve the right to cancel any tours with less than the minimum number of riders required to pedal the bike. Refunds or rescheduling will not be applicable to groups who arrive late for the tour.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM (AND MAXIMUM) GROUP SIZE FOR A TOUR?
YEG Old Strathcona/Happy Beer Street tours require a minimum of 8 guests (to a maximum of 15).
YEG Downtown tours require a minimum of 6 guests (to a maximum of 13).
Public tours (individual seat bookings) require a minimum of 8 seats to be booked to go ahead.
We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the tour if the minimum number of riders is not met.
WHAT IF IT'S RAINING? COLD? SNOWING?
With the weather in Alberta, you never know what you are going to get, but we ride rain or shine!
If there is a severe weather warning, the guide will determine if it’s safe to continue. If there is snow on the ground, we do not ride and the tour will be cancelled.
If the guide cancels your tour for snow or any other reason, you will be given the option to re-book or request a full refund.
IS THERE MUSIC ONBOARD?
Absolutely!! Pick from our playlists, or connect to our onboard Bluetooth stereo system, and lead the pack with your favorite beats!
HOW SAFE IS THE RIDE?
Your safety is our primary concern. Our bikes are equipped with high back seats, handle bars, and hydraulic brakes to keep you comfortable and safe. We typically travel at an easy 10 km/h pace. You do not HAVE to wear a helmet, but if you would like to wear one, feel free to bring one along! Urban Pedal Tours will not provide any helmets.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Dress for the weather! If you bring a jacket or sweater, you can store it in our cubby on the bike if you get too hot.
We definitely recommend wearing closed toed shoes. DO NOT wear flip flops, open-toed sandals, or high heels.
Pants or shorts are a better bet than a dress or skirt.
